Proverbs 3:5-6
The First Commandment tells us to put God first in our life, and to have no other gods before Him. It establishes the foundation of our life. In it we see the first person of the Trinity, God the Father. How we handle this commandment sets the course for our entire life.
In the Exodus story, the Israelites are slaves in Egypt, and God delivers them, bringing them out of “the house of slavery”. What does this aspect of the Exodus story teach us about the gospel?
All of us want life. We want a good life. Whether it is school, friends, marriage, work, sports, etc. – we want the best. The world is full of ideas on how to get life. Books, videos, podcasts, conferences. But God tells us the only way to true life and to Him is through Jesus.
The connection between fatherhood and our understanding of God is profound. It has been said that our relationship with God is impacted by our relationship with our earthly fathers, and that it can even affect our ability or inability to connect with God. God uses fatherhood throughout scripture to help us connect with Him.
